Perfect Boy Needing a Home
Meet Koda!
This is Koda. I’ve been fostering him for the past month and am now looking to find his perfect forever home or a long-term foster situation.
Koda was found as a stray, dumped out in the country in northern Arkansas, eating out of trash cans and living on the highway. Since the day he connected with me, he hasn’t left my side.
He’s since been to the vet, received all his vaccinations, tested negative for heartworm, and had his first dose of flea and tick prevention. He’s currently intact and will need to be neutered this fall or winter. He’ll also need to stay on monthly heartworm prevention and flea/tick medication, and get a microchip.
Koda is incredibly intelligent, obedient, and a quick learner. He’s been living closely with my cat and does well with her. He’s very playful and has high energy, with the vet estimating his age around 1.5 years. He’s a mixed breed—likely with a strong Australian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees influence—though his forever family might want to do a DNA test to know for sure!
What Koda needs in a home and family:
• A very large outdoor space, ideally a farm or rural home
• Fenced-in yard preferred
• A very active individual, couple, or family
• Daily physical activity: long walks, runs, ball, rope tug
• A home where he won’t be left alone all day
• A family committed to ongoing training
• He’d thrive with other young, playful dogs
Koda is deeply bonded to me (and I to him), and I believe that with time, he’ll form the same strong connection with his new person or family. The other option we are open to is a long-term foster situation, where he could be returned to me when I am able to find a different living arrangement. We’ve worked on multiple commands, and while he’s mastered many, he’ll need continued consistency and guidance. Although he needs a lot of exercise and playtime, he also loves to cuddle and sleep right beside me.
We are currently located in Byron, IL. I’m going to be extremely thoughtful about where he goes—he deserves the best home possible. If it doesn’t work out, I’m open to taking him back.
